As an artist, I am deeply moved by the concept of metamorphosis—the sacred, intense moments in our lives where we must completely shed our past to rise into our highest potential. Ascension is a visual anthem dedicated to that internal fire of renewal.
I envisioned this composition not as a static, literal depiction of a mythical bird, but as a visceral experience of transformative energy. The creative process was a deeply physical, multi-layered journey in my studio. I began by laying down a foundational background of heavy, obsidian blacks and dark, ashen charcoal tones to represent the history we leave behind. From that darkness, I used expressive, gestural brushstrokes to unleash a furious current of living flames, carving thick ridges of vibrant crimson and molten orange across the canvas. A sudden sweep of cosmic white splatters introduces an ethereal sky element, framing the creature's wing as it actively breaks free from the fire. It is an intense, symbolic masterwork painted for anyone who has fought through hardship, discovered their own inner strength, and chosen to rise, reborn, into the light.
