As an artist, I am continuously fascinated by the invisible, powerful conversations that take place between our internal emotional landscapes and the external world around us. Rather than a literal depiction of a portrait, I wanted to paint a dreamscape where the human form and the earth become one unified element. The creative process on this solid wood panel required building fine, transparent glazes of high-grade acrylics to achieve a hazy, ethereal blending effect. The soft, sweeping violet and deep indigo hills rise up to shape the contours of the figure, while her gaze links directly with the viewer.
