My goal was to immerse the viewer in the raw texture of the landscape. The creative process inside my studio required an intense variation of expressive, heavy-body brushwork. To sculpt the colossal mountain peaks, I layered thick, high-contrast whites, slates, and warm earth tones to create high-relief ridges that actively catch ambient room light. In direct contrast, the lake below was painted with smooth, horizontal glazes, allowing the rich forest reflections and water shadows to create an ethereal, luminous depth.
